If you strip everything off,

take off your clothes,

all of it,

you are naked.

What if you go further?

take off your skin,

your muscles,

your bones.

-

Leave it all to the side,

your humanly tie in a crumpled heap

of flesh and bone and liquid,

what is left?

-

Only then you are truly naked.

and only you is left.

you…

your soul.

-

How much have you put into this?

at the end that is all there is.

No more,

No less.

Be naked and happy,

not clothed, fleshy and unhappy.

I’m tired.

Tired of the bullshit.

The monotony.

I wake,

I work,

I stress.

I chase my tail all day

and get dizzy.

The ducks twirling my head

are my sole reward.

When will I be free?

Free to breathe?

To relax

To Smile?

Please ignore the tears

streaming down my face,

they will dry.

These kisses I would loop,

Wrap,

Surround me on a piece of string.

The string around my neck,

twisted around my body.

I’d take the kisses everywhere,

and when people ask

‘what’s the string for?’

I’ll say I carry my lover’s love,

I remember to breathe,              g

gasp,                                       i

the air is so much brighter,   l

Your footsteps echoed mine,

once upon a time.

-

You filled your days with me,

I was all you could see.

-

I thought you would never leave

but you had me deceived.

-

My world completely shattered,

my heart, soul and body were battered.

-

I had to learn to grow

and erase the seeds you’d sowed.

-

My footsteps now ring out single,

my heart was forced to mingle.

-

But I realised you were never mine,

once upon a time.

Can you hear the rain

echoing outside,

the rain’s splattering on the tiny window.

-

I am scared,

the shivers are getting worse,

the sleep won’t lull me away from my nightmare.

-

The thunder is getting closer,

Louder,

Stronger.

-

The duvet is over my head,

with a crash it is slowly pulled down,

slow enough not to scare a calf,

and there you are.

-

Standing with arms awide,

waiting for me to leap.

-

I am safe,

I am warm,

nothing can touch me now you’re here.
